Follow Up: How To Catch A Thief

The simple answer, public records. The wealth of information available is literally a google search away. Don't assume that you are being told the truth. You are perfectly justified in wanting verification. If there is not total transparency, be suspicious. Ask for hard copies of all paperwork included in the matter. Requesting printed copies usually will have a minimal cost.

Tip: In my experience I have found a visit in person to make my requests for hard copies resulted in the clerk supplying knowledge I would have never known had I not been there in person.

Public information includes: birth certificates, death certificates, marriage certificates, land ownership, business licenses, statistical information, court records, warrant list, voting records, meeting minutes, just to name a few. You can access public records from all levels of government, state, county or city. The Sunlight Foundation advocates for open government. Stay in the know on the federal level by visiting their website.

Tip: A printed hard copy of an official record includes valuable information other than just a name.

Public records are so helpful when researching your family tree. A lot of the information that some websites charge a fee to see was information that was accessed for free from public records. Knowing where to look for this free information can be the hard part.
Tip: Family Tree Magazine is a superb site that lists a massive amount of free resource sites for free.

And now a word on prevention. Do not rely on others and their "knowledge" on anything. How do you know they received what they know from a reliable source. Do not blindly trust. That goes for family members, long time friends or some stranger you just met at the grocery store. Take the time and educate yourself. I promise you will not be sorry.
Just one more thing to mention. Do not allow others to take advantage of the system for their own personal gain. If you come across evidence of wrong doing, alert the proper authorities. If you see something, say something. That's why we are in the mess that we are in today.

If you have any questions, leave a comment or email me and I will be glad to clear things up for you.

Powers Out! How long will the food last in the fridge?

With all the crazy storms, high winds, rain, flooding, lightening, tornadoes, trees down, blown transformers and power outages means no electricity. Oh no the refrigerator! The food! Is it still good once the lights come back on? I've got the break down for you right here.

I have heard that a full freezer is better but I forget exactly why it's a better choice for your pocket book. To this day I have frozen water in large plastic containers to keep a full freezer. If anyone reading this has any idea why a full freezer is better. Please let me know what you know. And does that also go for the refrigerated part, too?

Moving on to the information about how long the food will last.
  • A full freezer maintains temperature for about 48 hours after shut off. Keep door closed.
  • The bottom of fridge is the coolest part of the fridge. Makes sense to move the food down.
  • Keep the door closed and the food will stay cold for approximately 4 hours.
  • According to the FDA, food that remains below 40 degrees Fahrenheit is safe to eat or be refrozen.
  • Those large plastic containers that I mentioned earlier will come in handy if you have to use a cooler. You can pick the size of container that works best for you but remember the larger the ice chunk is, the longer it will take to melt. Once it melts you have drinking water.
The above tip will serve you well when packing a cooler for a camping trip or a long day at the beach. And I thought of a few more tips that are sure to come in handy.
  • A dime size amount of dish soap can be used in the place of shampoo or even body wash.
  • Tennis shoes will dry by morning if you put wadded up newspaper in them.
  • Regular under arm deodorant rubbed on a mosquito bite will bring instant itch relief.
I'm going to ask for your help again. There's got to be more tips for camping or a day by the water that you can share. Please leave them in a comment. It would be very much appreciated.

7 Rules To Teach Children On How To Treat Dogs

Keep your children and the dog out of harms way.  A child's innocent enthusiasm and curiosity might cause a dog to growl or bite.  Educate your children with these 7 basic common sense rules to follow when dealing with a dog.

 How To Treat Dogs
  1. Don't tug a dog's tail or ears.  Teasing a dog is never a good idea.
  2. Leave the dog alone while he is sleeping.  The same goes for eating, never take their foo
  3. Before petting a dog, make a fist and let him sniff it first.
  4. Enter a home where a dog lives only if someone who can control the dog is home.
  5. Always keep a safe distance away from the dog's mouth or paws.
  6. Be extra careful around dogs that were raised in a home with no children.
  7. Unless the owner is present, always stay away from strange dogs.

I AM NOT FOR OBAMA!!!

I AM AGAINST REPUBLICANS!!!

The Republicans are acting like children, throwing a fit because they did not get their way in the last election.  Seems like they are saying, "If we can't be captain, then we're not playing!"

The disrespect that has been given to our President should not be tolerated.  They have done everything they can to make our President look bad.  We voted him in and it's feeling like a personal attack.  They should have been adult enough to accept it and move on by doing their job as an elected official and provide continuous support to the team.  Instead, they have made threats and acted upon those threats by creating one obstacle after another.  And to top it all off, the Republicans are blaming President Obama for not succeeding in the areas they have corrupted.

The Republicans must really think we are stupid.

We as Americans can not reward their bad behavior by giving in.  The last thing we need are spoiled children running the show.  If you think the past 4 years have been bad, just wait and see how we will be punished if a Republican actually does win the next election.

That is why I'm not for Obama.  I AM AGAINST THE REPUBLICANS!!!

Just Been Dumped? Steps To Follow For Recovery

I found this site that talks about all the things people don't usually talk about.  There are articles answering every question you've ever had about sex and relationships.  Christine Webber's article explaining the "LEARN" process for getting over being dumped has some very good tips.

L stands for LIST

Make a list of all the things about your ex-partner that you did not like. It may start off small, but if you pin it up in your kitchen so that you see it daily, you will be amazed at how it will grow...read more

E is for EXPERIENCE

After a relationship is finished, we tend to think that we can never be loved again. This is not true, of course, but it is what we believe at the time...read more

A stands for APPRECIATION

Appreciation of yourself, that is.
You need to look at yourself in the mirror and focus on your best features and congratulate yourself on them. Do this often.
Another helpful task is to write a list of 50 things that you like about yourself. This might take some doing, but it is a rewarding exercise...read more

R is for RE-ORGANIZING

Unfortunately, when you have been half of a couple for a while, many of your friends will be other couples who knew you and your ex.
Sadly, some of these people are probably avoiding you like the plague now, fearful, in some cranky way, that having you around will make their own relationship more vulnerable.
But even if you keep plenty of old friends, this is a time when you need a whole new circle of mates of both genders. I know you probably don’t feel like going to a French class right now, or joining the local Amateur Dramatics, but actually this would be a good time to do it. It would fill your mind with new things and divert it from all that sorrow. Also, you would make new friends who are nothing to do with your ex...read more

N is for NO SEX WITH YOUR EX!

Often when you have been apart for several months, your ex may suddenly decide that the grass was not greener outside the relationship after all.
Or perhaps he or she will sense that you are getting your life in order and may feel jealous that you are now in a position to find someone else. Maybe he or she will just fancy a quick snog for old time's sake.
The trouble is that sex and closeness might make you feel loved and wanted temporarily, but it will leave you with more sorrow and confusion after wards...read more

Ah-Ha! They Have A Name, Camel Crickets

These things scare the hell out of me.  I'm not the only one either.  There are 186 comments on the torture these scary creatures have dealt.  It was comforting to know I was not alone.  Others have endured terrifying moments much like mine.  It was liberating to share my story along with the others.  I'm also sharing my story below as well.  I'm number 186 on the list of comments and I thought you might want to hear what I have to say.  I want you to know you are not alone.  These things are real.  You are not crazy.
There are a few different ways people have found to get rid of them that I'm going to try.  I also learned that hair spray doesn't work.  Good to know.  If you have no idea what I am talking about, you soon will.  They'll find you sooner or later.
Feel free to leave a comment about your experience with the camel crickets if you like.  It's therapeutic.  Here's the link to Jacob Grier's article about his experience with all the submitted comments.  At the very beginning is a link to the article in The Washington Post about these "sketchy" critters you will want to check out.

     And this is my story...

I can't wait to show my Dad all these comments.  We have lived together for the past few years in two different locations.  I lived in the basement of the first home.   I stayed up late one night to read and noticed movement on the floor.  EEwwwwww!  omgomgomgOMG!!!  What are they?
There was an army of them.  I had never seen them before in my lifetime of 40 years.  You think I would, growing up in the middle of nowhere, in an old two-story haunted house with a basement.  There were all kinds of snakes, spiders and bugs.  I never saw anything like this out there.  My dad told me I was being silly and there is nothing to be afraid of.  I told him they jump at me.  They disappear.  They appear in odd places.  They are ugly and fast.  They stare at me.    He said I was imagining all that; "It's just a cricket, they won't hurt you". "It's bad luck to kill a cricket."  WHATEVER!  It's me or them.
There was one in my shower one day that even freaked my dad out because of its size.  This was the grand daddy of them all, I'm sure.  I swear it was...including legs and all...as big as my hand.  His body was bigger than my thumb.  Up until this point my dad always caught them by hand and threw them out of the house.  eerrr, KILL THEM!  This one he caught in a jar, wouldn't tell me what he did with it.  Don't care.  Don't want to know.
We moved to the city of Springfield, MO. They followed us here.  They live mostly in the garage, and occasionally appear in the house but not in my Dad's room.  In my closet of course, the opposite end of the house from the garage.  They are still here.  I know they're after me.  They can smell my fear.  I'm trying to cope.  It does help that my Dad always comes to my rescue when they appear.  He knows what's going on by the screaming and cursing.  He comes to my aid wearing the usual grin.
"You know what Billie, I think they are after you."
     Thanks Dad.

HACKERS BEWARE!!!!!

GGGrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!
Someone has hacked some of the widgets you get from google.  They were sending everybody to a different page.  Not just one certain page but several different ones.  Not just one widget but several.  I think I finally got rid of the junk.  I decided I better get me a watch dog for protection.  Doesn't he look mean and scary? I barely find time to get on here and do the things I want to do.  Some asshole comes along and sets me back further.  I wasn't the only one according to the forums.  I hope everybody figures out how to get rid of the headach.  If anyone reading this wants to know how I found and extinguished the beast just leave a comment or email me and I will more than happy to tell you.
