5 Simple Make-Up Tricks For Full Lips So Easy Works For Everyone

  1. Add some sugar to the cleanser you use on your face for a d-i-y lip scrub. Scrubbing lips in a circle pattern, not too hard, makes them smooth and stimulate puff.
  2. Choose glossy over matte every time when it comes to lip color.
  3. With a white, shimmery liner pencil outline just above the V of the cupid's bow. You will love the overflowing effect this gives to you lips.
  4. Line the length of the top lip line only with a nude pencil. This will make it disappear and give an appearance your lip goes on and on. And then fill in entire lips with the nude or a soft pink colored lip pencil.
  5. Lighter colors reflect light and creates depth. Darker shades define a border

D-I-Y body scrub is created by mixing 2 parts baby oil with 1 part sugar.

*Did you know taking B vitamins strengthens fingernails.*

D-I-Y dandruff rinse can be made by mixing 1 part mouthwash with 9 parts water.
Apply to scalp and leave on.

Not just a nail polish anymore.
  • It's a sealant to keep important information like directions from getting water damaged.
  • Prevents rust from forming when applied to the bottom rim of metal cans stored around water.
  • Mend a small tear in fabric screen. Even a small tear will give those pesky bugs a way in.
  • Here's a cute idea that deserves repeating. Seal envelopes for party invitations, use party color.
  • Chips or nicks easily disguised with the right color applied.
  • Clear polish will create a barrier between jewelry metal and skin

What's Your Actual Skin Tone and What Color's Look Best To Wear on Your Body, Nails, Eyes and Lips

I got straight A's on the quiz. Let's see how you zone out on the pop quiz.

  • What is the natural color of your hair A) dark brown or black B) blond, strawberry, red or light brown C) gray or white?
  • Take a white piece of paper and hold it next to your face. Your skin looks A) yellow B) pink & rosy C) gray?
  • What color are your veins A)green B) blue C) unsure?
  • During the summer you're more likely to A) tan easily B) just burn C) mixture of both?
Mostly (A) answers means your skin tone is WARM. The experts suggest pairing golds like yellow and rose or copper or brass with earth tones such as yellows, browns, orange, peach, corals or turquoise will all bring out your natural glow.
Medium-Dark Skin Lip Colors
magenta, brick red, tangerine
Dark Skin Lip Colors
wine, orange, orchid

Mostly (B) answers gives you a COOL skin tone. Silver, white gold and platinum paired with colors that are vibrant such as red, blue, green or purple are the best colors for your fair skin.

Fair Skin Lip Colors
bubble-gum pink, fuchsia, tomato red
Light Skin Lip Colors
raspberry, plum, blue-red

Mostly (C) answers means your skin tone is somewhere in the middle and maybe leaning stronger to one side or the other. This skin tone has been labeled as the NEUTRAL skin tone. Yellow gold, white gold, silver or brass paired with white, jade, reds and blues. I suggest that deciding if you are closer to warm or closer to cool will help to narrow your choices.
Light-Medium Skin Lip Colors
coral, fig, true red
Olive Skin Lip Colors
rosy pink, berry, pink coral

Research shows wearing lipstick will help boost confidence. We all could use a boost now and then.

A well-known tip to keep lipstick on the lips and not settling into those lines around the lips is the use of clear lip liner traced on top of your lip line.

If you're new to wearing lipstick, starting with a "sheer" color will help ease you into wearing it. Then, when you are ready to move on to a bright shade create a stain like effect by applying your lipstick to the center of your lips and blending it outward with your finger or a lip brush.

Send a message with your choice of nail polish hue. I think you can figure out what color says what.
Here's some suggestions from the "experts."
Fair - Light Skin / Cool
enhance with deep colors like forest green, tomato red, dark purple

Light - Medium Skin / Neutral
avoid earth tones and go vivid with periwinkle, coral, raspberry
Olive Skin / Neutral
balance your yellow with a cooler hue like dusty pink, baby blue, grape

Medium - Dark Skin /  Warm
rich jewel tones of plum, magenta, blue red
Dark Skin / Warm
pop with bright shades of yellow, orange, robin's-egg blue

Wearing colorful eye shadow or liner will make you seem more outgoing or friendly or playful. That is, compared to a more "natural" look.

A rich shade of eye shadow will brighten the whites of your eyes and intensify your irises.
*Navy colored eye shadow will create this effect for every eye color.
*Amethyst eye liner is universally flattering for every eye color.
*Teal colored eye shadow works for blue eyes and so does burgundy eye liner.
*Cobalt colored eye shadow works for brown eyes along with a navy eye liner.
*Choose purple colored eye shadow for green eyes as well as a plum eye liner.

10 Useful Ways To Use Hair Spray (Doesn't Include Hair)

Besides being a musical.  Turns out hair spray can be a protective barrier, spot remover and bug killer.  Who knew!  We spray it all around and into the surrounding air we and everybody else in the house breathes.  Maybe we should re-think the way we use this stuff so close to our body.  I'm just saying, think about it.

Anyway...

  1. Extend the life of cut flowers to postpone wilting.  Stand about a foot away from the bouquet and give it a quick spray making sure to only spray on the undersides of the petals and leaves.
  2. Protect the artwork your child brings home from school.  Before you put the artwork in the place of honor (refrigerator door), spray the artwork entirely with hair spray.  This works especially well on chalk work that seems to smudge easily.
  3. Ink marks on clothing or upholstery should come right off after spraying  hair spray directly on the ink spot.
  4. Those new drapes for the living room look great.  Keep that new look longer by applying several coats of hair spray.  The trick is to let each coat dry completely before applying the next one.  This will work for the curtains you have just laundered too.
  5. A good coating of hair spray will prevent recipe cards from getting all messy when in use in the kitchen.  OK maybe not prevent the messy but they will be easily wiped clean.
  6. Lightly spraying your freshly polished shoes with hair spray will keep the polish from easily being wiped off.
  7. A light spray will keep a fresh Christmas wreath's needles in tact by keeping the moisture in them for longer.  Happy Holidays!
  8. Lipstick stains on clothing are easily removed with hair spray.  Let the hair spray set a minute on the stain then wipe it off.  Launder the clothing as usual.
  9. Reduce the amount of runs in your panty hose by spraying the hair spray on the toes of a new pair of pantie hose.  The toe area is where most runs start.  The hair spray strengthen the threads so they last longer.
  10. They will drop like flies because they are flies.  Those pesky house flies won't survive one squirt.  But make sure it's the water soluble hair spray in case you miss the target and have to clean the wall.  Works on wasps and bees too!
If you can't do without hair spray for your hair why not try a natural, non-toxic approach.  If you will, I will.  I have found a simple and inexpensive recipe for hair spray by the Imperfect Homemaker.

Would love to here about your homemade hairspray in a comment.  And please don't forget to leave a link, please.

3 DIY Must Haves

DIY Dry Shampoo

Put 1 cup of oatmeal in the blender and grind it into a fine powder.  Add 1 cup of baking soda and mix well.  Rub a bit of the mixture into your hair.  Give it a minute or two to soak up the oil, then brush or shake it out of your hair.  Make sure you do this last step over a towel or sink, so you don't make a big mess by getting it all over.
This works perfectly for man's best friend that refuses to take a bath.  Can be used for the bedridden too.

 DIY Jewelry Organizer

You must see this new idea for a jewelry organizer.  I absolutely love it.  You don't have to worry about opening the proper drawer when taking off your jewelry.  You don't have to make sure to drape that necklace over the appropriate hook, hoping it won't fall.  With this style of organizer you simply aim and drop.  I have decided to make one.  Doesn't look hard at all.  The hardest part and actually the most fun part will be finding the pieces needed.  Let me show you what I am talking about.

DON'T Say Cheeeze! 7 Tips For Looking Your Best In Pics

Follow these tips when posing for a pic.  Maybe you won't dread taking those family photos (as much).  There won't be a need to hide behind someone next time you hear, "group photo" at a get-together.  You might not become a super model.  But they might keep you from having a panic attack when you see yourself in print.
  • Don't let your arms hang down on your sides.  Lift your elbows out a little bit.  Too close to your sides can make a person look much heavier than they really are.
  • For a slimming effect, stand with one foot slightly in front of the other.  This is popular with celebrities on the red carpet.
  • Never stare straight at the lens of the camera.  Turn slightly to the side for a much softer look.
  • Elongate your neck to make sure there is no double, triple chin added.
  • White background is best for picture taking.
  • Looking towards the light enhances your eyes.
  • Better to have the camera angle down instead of up.  If you are taller than the photographer, take a seat.
And what about saying cheese?  Don't do it!  This is well known to produce a fake and maybe forced smile, not pretty.  Instead think of something funny or joke around with others around you for a more natural smile.  Natural is always better than staged.  Here comes the paparazzi.  Get ready!

Remove Age, Sun, Brown Spots With One (Easy To Get) Ingredient

Use full strength cider vinegar on a cotton ball and apply it for 10 minutes on targeted spot/s on your skin.  Do this at least twice a day.  Within a few weeks those spots will have faded or even disappeared.  Those spots did not develop over night.  And they won't go away over night either. But they will go away.

Your nail polish will stay on longer if you dampen nail bed with vinegar on a cotton ball.  Let it dry before applying polish.

Since we're discussing our nails...Before manicuring your nails, soak your fingers in a bowl of undiluted white vinegar for 5 minutes to soften the cuticles.  This goes for your toes too, before the pedicure.

I was amazed to find out that white vinegar works as an antiperspirant.  Splash under each arm in the morning in place of the regular stuff you use and let dry.

By placing a gauze soaked in white or cider vinegar on an injured area for an hour and it will speed healing and prevent black and blue marks.

Distilled white vinegar is one of the best grease eliminators around.  Good to know, right?
Vinegar is a stain remover, multi-purpose cleaner and disinfectant too.

But check this out!  Boil 2 cups of vinegar in your pans for 10 minutes helps keep food from sticking to it for several months.

Odor control is another talent of vinegar.  Pour in a small saucer and place in area of the odor.

Unclogs drains, antiperspirant, odor control, multi-purpose cleaner, non-toxic!!!!
That makes vinegar a super hero in my book.

Common Scents Tips

Colognes typically last 1 to 4 hours on your skin.
Eeu de toilette & Eau de Parfum usually last from 4 to 6 hours.
Body lotion or cream lasts from 3 to 8 hours.
Perfume last the longest, from 5 to 8 hours.

  • If you want scented body cream or lotion simply add a drop or spritz of your fragrance in with what you are applying.  You can also take a small container of cream or lotion and add a few drops.
  • Air, heat and light are the enemies of your fragrance.
  • An unopened bottle will usually keep for 3 years provided it has been kept away from heat and light.
  • Open fragrances have a 1 1/2 to 2 year shelf life.
  • When the scent begins to smell of vinegar or it becomes darker, or sticky or greasy when applied, it's time to throw it away.
  • Bathrooms are not the best place to keep your fragrances.  Constant warm steam will cause the fragrance to break down faster.
  • A better place to store your fragrances is in the refrigerator.  This will extend the life of the fragrance. Plus it will feel awesome on a warm summer day when applied.
  • If you spray too much on, just rub the area with a warm soapy washcloth.
  • High altitudes will reduce the longevity as well as the potency of any fragrance.
  • Fragrance does not last as long on dry skin as it does on oily skin.
  • Some fragrances will smell a lot stronger on someone who eats a lot of spicy or high fat foods.
Now, let's talk about that dry skin...
  • You only need a nickel size amount of body wash to clean the entire body.  Do not use bar soap unless it is vegetable based.
  • If your skin is "squeaky", that is a sure sign your skin has been stripped of oil and over/cleansed.
  • Deodorant soaps are the most drying.
  • Use lotion without alcohol in it.  The alcohol allows skin to absorb quicker but it's heavily drying.
  • Use hair conditioner to shave with.  This will leave area silky smooth.
  • 3 minutes after bathing the skin's pores will begin to close.  So try to apply your moisturizer within that 3 minute window for better absorption.
  • Make your own aroma/therapeutic blend to fight cellulite.  2 drops rosemary, 2 drops fennel essential oils to 1 tablespoon carrier oil like almond or sesame.  Massage this mixture thoroughly into the affected areas every day after you bathe.

Moist Meatballs Trick

To make meatballs that are wonderfully moist, put a small ice cube in the center of each ball before browning.  Cook as usual.

For relief from mosquito or black fly bites, use regular underarm deodorant.  Rub it right across the bite itself for instant relief.

The main ingredient in wd-40 is fish oil.  Believe it or not!  Fish oil has been known to relieve some types of athritis pain.  Wd-40 can do a lot of tricks, untangles jewelry chains. loosens stubborn zippers, removes lipstick stains, cleans chalkboards, keeps flies off cows, protects silver from tarnishing, camouflages scratches in ceramic and marble floors.  removes tomato stains from clothing, lubricates noisy door hinges, removes crayon from walls, removes bug guts from the front of car, protects the Statue of Liberty from the elements, removes splattered grease on stove...

Mouthwash
1 tsp salt, 1 tsp baking soda, 1/2 cup water.  Mix, gargle, spit.

Fingernail polish remover cleans a dry erase board.
MAKEUP REMOVER
1 cup distilled water
1/4 teaspoon Dr. Bronner’s unscented baby-mild liquid castile soap
1 teaspoon olive oil

     another...
     MAKEUP REMOVER
  • 1 Tablespoon of tearless baby shampoo
  • 1 cup of water
  • ¼ teaspoon of mineral or baby oil
"The one above looks easy enough.  Definitely gonna try the one above.  How 'bout you?"
