It's A Bird, It's A Plane, No... It's Super Grapes!

I love grapes.  Red or green doesn't matter, just as  long as they are bursting with all that sweet grape juiciness. Set me down in front of a TV with a bag of grapes and I will eat them like popcorn. I have been told I am a picky eater. I think "picky" is a little harsh. But, I guess they are right for the most part.  Let's just say if you are "trying out" a new recipe and need someone to try it, let you know what they think. I am not the one you should call. I won't even try a taste. I'm sorry but I just won't.

Enough about all that. There is a recipe, just brought to my attention, I can't wait to try. Are you ready for this? Grape pie! Doesn't that sound yummy? Excuse me, SUPER GRAPES! It appears to me grapes have reached super hero status. The author of the post has graciously added grape recipes for those of us that would prefer not to eat grapes popcorn style. Check out Jen Reviews content about grapes.  But don't stop there. So I followed the trail after seeing an image of the lighted flashing cubes and ended up on this website: flashingblinkylights.com  WOW!  They have got all kinds of things flashing with blinky lights or blinking with flashy lights or just glowing, whatever, you know what I mean.  Don't you?  See for yourself.

If you click on the heading "Company" you'll find an inspiring story about how Chris and Laura Camarella started FBL and made it the great success it is today. A picture on that same page includes the Camarella family and their extended family (employees) makes it look like a great place to work.  Making people happy should be every company's mission statement.

They do all their business from the one location in Sun Valley, California.  If they ever want to spread some of that sunshine this way, I would happily be their first franchisee.  But until then we will have to order all of our flashing and blinking party favors from there.  But you won't mind, because they make it super easy and guarantee your happiness.

     I'm crazy when it comes to vintage.  I'm even crazier when it comes to antiques.  And when I find a cheap price to satisfy my itch.  Well, I think you know, but I will say it anyway.  I go INSANE!!! Springfield, like everywhere else, have second hand stores popping up everywhere.  "Not-for-profits" like Salvation Army or DAV(aka Red Racks aka Disabled American Veterans) and Goodwill (not a charity) are even trying to get in the game.

     But those places are not where you find the good stuff.  Anymore that's not where you find the best prices either.  My favorite places are the flea markets.  There are quite a few of these too, but not as many as there used to be in Springfield.  Most of the ones downtown by the square turned into art museums.  Lol, you get me, right?

     Well there is still one close to downtown they haven't changed yet.  It's been in Springfield a long time.  Those who know about it are not sharing.  I can't hold it in any more.  Not only is there one downtown but they have got another location on East Trafficway.  You go under the Glenstone Avenue bridge staying on East Trafficway and before you get to Bolivar Insulation, it's on the right.  If you intersect with Chestnut Expressway you have gone too far, turn around.

     What's the name you say?  Leave it to Springfield to have a flea market with the name of a ...well uh, the name is S.T.D.  Yeah, yeah, yeah go ahead and laugh.  You won't be laughing once you go there and scoop up some cheap deals.  There are over 100 booths at this location and the one downtown too.  There are two other flea markets just down the street from S.T.D. but I forget their names.

     You'll have to go there to find out exactly how they got their name, because I ain't tellin' ya!  I took some pictures while I was there last time just to show you a lil' bit of what they got.  The people that work there are pretty cool too..

Discrimination Between Sexes Lives On

     Maybe I am way off base.  Maybe this evidence is too outdated.  Maybe I'm turning a blind eye to what's currently out there in today's media.  I can tell you one thing, I'll be taking a little more notice that's for sure.  You be the judge.  Tell me what you think after reading this post.  Maybe you have already noticed the blatant, "in your face" messages.  I would love to hear about any other examples  I have missed.  Enough of that, here's what happened...
  
    Picked up a Reader's Digest from July 2001.  A thrift store I like to frequent always has a great magazine collection for only five cents each.  That easily fits any one's budget.  They come in very handy for doing decoupage crafts or scrap booking, etc.   Just wanted to throw that out there for all you craft makers like me.

     On the front cover was the title of an article found inside on page 140, "5 foods Women Need Most Men Need Most."  I want to eat healthy, so I continued to page 140.  Remembering it was from 2001, I wanted to see if there was any information that conflicted with what we know today.  I couldn't believe what I read.  Did I mention the author of this article, Maureen Callahan. (???)

     I'll get straight to the point.  (finally, right?)  

Foods listed for men; tomato sauce, oysters (come on) broccoli, peanut butter and watermelon.  

Foods listed for women; papaya, flax seed, tofu, buffalo meat ("not so hard to find in grocery stores anymore" really?where does Ms Callahan shop) and collard greens.

What the hell?!?  I would much rather eat from the men's list.  With each food item listed was an explanation of why it would benefit him or her.  There were even results from "studies" and "stats" that were clearly biased.  Some descriptions gave the reader some other more "down-to-earth" options to eat if you stuck around long enough to read that far.
 
     I couldn't help but share my findings.  Let me know what you think.  Have I gone crazy?

Another place I like to visit for freebies is All You Magazines website.  They got a freebie of the day page that can't be beat.  They include hot deals from area retailers along with the free sample information.  It wouldn't be right if they did not have a coupon page, and they do.  But what I really like is the long list of birthday freebies they list.  And of course they have informative articles too.
