Essential Oil Simple Test To Know It's Pure

To see if your oil is pure, do a blotting paper test.  Pure essential oils will not leave any residue on the paper once evaporated..  Petroleum will leave a residue.  Your looking for NO residue.

When shopping for essential oils ask for those oils that are naturally derived.  Steer clear of chemical duplicates of natural materials like musk ambrette, heliotropin, vanilla, coumarin, ethyl phthalate and benzyl cinnamate

Have you ever wandered what determined whether it is a cologne, perfume or toilette.  How much essential oil makes all the difference.

Splash Cologne contains as little as 1 percent essential oil.

Eau de Cologne contains up to 5 percent essential oil.

Eau de Toilette contains up to 8 percent essential oil.

Eau de Perfume contains up to 15 percent essential oil.

Perfume contains as much as 30 percent essential oil.

There are more involved recipes to use to make your signature fragrance.  I'll set you up with a link at the end of this article.  Maybe you would rather have the information in writing, from a book.  My reference will be waiting for you at the bottom of the page.

But wait!  I love how simple it is to make a personal perfume oil.  Can't wait to find a fancy bottle to store it in.  Maybe something like...
I am sensing a DIY project in the very nery future.

A perfume oil is fast becoming a favorite of mine.  It's alcohol free.  Takes only a couple of minutes preparation time.  The shelf life is indefinite.  You absolutely must store it in an amber or blue glass bottle.  A special note:  jojoba is an excellent oil for a perfume base, because it won't alter the essential oil's aroma.  Jojoba also is a natural preservative and will never go rancid.

To complete a one ounce bottle of perfume oil, just combine 1 ounce of jojoba oil and 25 drops of essential oils (your choice) in your blue or amber glass bottle.  Shake to blend.

If you are already are in the know on how to make your own perfume, maybe you could share some  your secrets, links, etc...  In a comment of course!
