These days every one is concerned with their mortgage. I am a firm believer in "knowledge is power". Whether you are ready to buy your first home or looking to refinance, you really should do some homework (no pun intended).
Perfect Score Mortgages is a great place to start gathering information. They explain everything in very easy to understand detail with a user-friendly web site. When you click on this link you will find a current fixed rate chart comparing previous rates, and a mortgage calculator. You'll also find a "get a quote" option available, along with buying tips. I have learned so much from Perfect Score Mortgages articles.
It's tempting to stop right there pending a reasonable quote, but I'm going to take their advice and see what else is out there. Bankrate has a similar site. TMI! (too much information) They have a lot going on there. I found some good information when I finally found it, but I didn't learn anything that I hadn't already learned at Perfect Score and their peaceful site.
Here's a link to a blog post from Consumer Report of interest. My point is there is a lot of different resources to get educated about mortgages. Talk to friends and family. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Listen to your intuition. Be comfortable with whatever you choose.
