Money Saving Tips

I thought these were really good tips that I haven't heard before.
  • Stop waisting money on pkgs of seasoned rice.  Cook plain rice and add your own herbs and spices.  (well, duh...don't know why I am not doing this)
  • Boil potatoes for 5 minutes before baking in oven to cut down on baking time.  (seems like we are always waiting on the baked potatoes...using the microwave just isn't the same)
  • Doesn't hurt to reweigh items in grocery store to make sure there are no discrepancies.  (mistakes happen and why should we be the ones to pay for it)
  • Look behind newly marked, higher priced items on front of shelf.  Sometimes you find a few still marked at the old price in the back.  (if the stocker is doing rotation right the newer product should be in the back)
  • When using coupons, highlight the expiration date to speed things along at check-out.  (don't you just hate those heavy sighs and mumblings when you pull out your coupons to use)
  • When making biscuits, roll out dough and cut into squares instead of circles, for a no waste and quicker prep time.  (sometimes it's hip to be square...ha ha)
Hope these help you save some time and money.  Every little bit helps.  If you have some tips you would like to share, please do.  Leave in a comment and I will get them posted to the front page.  Thanks!!!
