Ideal: Exercise for 30 min on most days.
Next best: Break up your workout into shorter bursts-dog walking, chasing kids and stair climbing count.

Ideal: Eat fish twice a week for the omega-3 fatty acids.
Next best: Sprinkle ground flax seed on cereal or yogurt.

Ideal: Have five to nine servings of fresh fruits and vegetables a day.
Next best: Substitute canned, frozen or dried when fresh is not available.

Ideal: Lift weights twice a week.
Next best: Do weight-bearing moves, such as push-ups and lunges, at home.

Ideal: Get seven hours of sleep.
