The Incredible Edible

Egg Dying Contest
  • Fresh eggs are rough and chalky while the old eggs are smooth and shiny.
  • Eggs beat up fluffier if brought to room temperature first.
  • When baking use medium to large sized eggs.  X-large may cause cakes to fall when cooled.
  • If egg sinks when immersed in cool, salted water it's fresh.  If it rises to the surface.  Toss it.
  • A pinch of cornstarch added before beating an egg will make fluffier omelets.
  • Easily remove shells from hard boiled eggs by quickly rinsing in cool water first.
  • To make scrambled eggs or omelets rich add a couple of spoonfuls of sour cream, cream cheese, or heavy cream, then beat them up.
