Men Like Saving Money Too

I would like to apologize to any men that might have felt slighted in any way.  I often make post that are for the most part only interesting to women.  Starting right here and now I plan to give equal time to the men that visit.  Even though some men might not think so, products that women use work easily as well on them.  For example, wrinkle cream.  But here's a few frugal recipes of interest to men.

This after-shave will soothe your skin and leaves it smelling fresh
Combine all the ingredients in a medium size bowl.  Transfer to a lidded jar and refrigerate for 3 to 4 days, shake occasionally to mix.  Strain before using.  Keeps 1 to 2 months tightly covered and kept in the fridge.

2 cups rubbing alcohol
1 tablespoon glycerin
1 tablespoon dried lavender
1teaspoon dried rosemary
1 teaspoon ground cloves

Car wash concentrate cleans and shines
Mix the two detergents in a bottle.  To use, combine 1/2 cup of the concentrate with the water.  If a stronger solution is desired, reduce the amount of water.
1 cup liquid dish soap
3/4 cup powdered laundry detergent
3 gallons water.

Diy Car Wax
Avoid over drying by waxing your car one section at a time.
Heat ceresin wax and beeswax in a double boiler.  Stir, then allow to cool just until the mixture starts toharden.  Stir in the turpentine and pine oil.

1/2 cup melted ceresin wax
2 tablespoons melted yellow beeswax
2 cups turpentine
1tablespoon pine oil

Canvas waterproofing painted on the surfaces of tents, awnings, car and boat covers.
Mix together the soybean oil and turpentine.  Store in a cool dry place
1 cup soybean oil
1/2 cup turpentine

Grease solvent removes oil stains from skin.
Combine the ingredients in a small bowl.  Pour the mixture onto your hands and scrub.

2 tablespoons liquid soap gel (see below)
3 tablespoons cornmeal
1 teaspoon glycerin

Liquid soap gel variation uses only 1/2 gallon of water.
Mix ingredients together in a stockpot or dutch oven and set over low heat, stir occasionally, until the soap has dissolved.  Transfer to a storage container, cover tightly.  Use for a hand soap or general household cleaning.
2 cups soap flakes or grated soap
1 gallon water
2 tablespoons glycerin.
