Brunettes In Front Blondes In The Back

Party Tips

The light from the flash when picture taking will make the people in the front look washed out.  For your next group picture let all the dark haired people absorb the light in the front. Position light haired people behind them.  You will produce a much better picture.

Speaking of lighting.  For ambience dim your bulbs and light candles.  For an extra "splash" , change all your lightbulbs to pink, lavender or gold.  Blue or green light is not flattering at all but a little bit of red lighting would work.  A string of Christmas lights could be useful.  Fill your bathtub with water and float lit candles.  When purchasing candles for your party, consider scented.

That brings me to my next tip.  When guests are arriving have cookies baking in the oven.  Mmmm!  Or have oninons and garlic simmering on the stove.  These smells will emanate home and comfort and your guests will be instantly smiling and relaxed.

Drinks On Me:

     Spritzer
     1 1/2 oz. liquor
     Add ginger ale or seltzer.
     Serve in short highball glass.
     Garnish with lemon wedge.

     Salty Dog
     1 1/2 oz. gin
     Add grapefruit juice.
Wet rim of highball glass and dip in salt.

     Hot Buttered Rum
     4 cups of hot water
     4 T butter (not margarine)
     4 tsp molasses
     1 T cinnamon
     6 oz. dark rum
     4 T vanilla schnapps
     Blend all ingredients together.
     Serve topped with whip cream.
     Serves 4.

     Bloody Mary
     1 1/2 oz. vodka
     1 T tobasco
     1/2 T horseradish
     1/2 T Worcestershire sauce
     pinch of cinnamon
     salt and pepper to taste
Stir ingredients together and serve in a tall glass with ice.
Garnish with celery stalk in drink.

* Never add ice cubes to a hot drink, can cause glass to shatter.

* For frosty mugs; dip them in water and place them in freezer for approx. 30 minutes before use.

* If you break a glass anywhere near the ice bucket.  Get rid of all the ice in bucket.
