And I don't mean side of the house. Which flower would you like to have as a side dish for dinner. You heard me. There are some flowers that are good to eat. I haven't tried them but here's all the information we need to do just that.
Calendula (pot marigold): Add minced petals to rice, omelets, chicken soup, clam chowder or stew.
Nasturtium: Serve leaves like watercress on sandwiches, or stuff flowers with regular and tarragon-seasoned rice, then simmer in chicken stock and sherry.
Squash blossom: Pick blossoms as they are opening, dip in a flour and egg mixture seasoned with salt, pepper and tarragon. Deep fry until golden brown.
Camomile: Dry the flowers on a screen in a dark place to make tea.
Borage: Toss with salad for a cucumbelike taste, or use fresh for tea.
