WOW!
An Antique Apple Computer Sells for Double High Estimate |
An original 1976 working Apple 1 motherboard sold for $374,500 at a Sotheby's auction on June 15, 2012 (see Kovels Komments, June 6). It went for twice the estimate. It's an important historic relic even though it's only 36 years old. Other early computers and even computer parts have been sold at auction alongside more traditional "antiques." Prices are rising. I received this tid bit of information from a newsletter I subscribe to called Kovel's Komments. The Kovel's have written numerous price guides for antiques and collectibles and are considered experts in the field. Their newsletter includes all kinds of useful information on the subject. I never let one get by without reading it. If you haven't checked out their website yet, here's a link. |
