How To Buy The Right Sunglasses

First of all be sure they are large enough.  Light should not enter around the edges.  Frames that curve back toward the temple are the best.  Plastic lenses are less heavy than glass but they do scratch easier.  Clean with a soft cloth, not a silicone tissue.  To prevent glare you'll want to choose greenish grays, neutral grays and browns.  Other colors absorb wavelengths and upset color balance.

When you put on the glasses on, the world should appear in true color, but not as bright.  Sun sensor lenses are a good all-around choice.  They adjust from dark to light.  Polarized lenses block reflected glare, like from water.
Here's a frugal idea for you.  Have an old pair of prescription lenses tinted to a desired density.

Here's another summer time tip for you.  The scoop on an ice-cream scoop.

Look for the kind that resemble large spoons.  The familiar metal scoops with press-in spring levers on the handle are not as effective.  (They work best for scooping tuna and egg salad)

With the scoop held vertically, dip the tip into the ice cream.  Draw the scoop toward you.  The ice cream will curl into the head while allowing air to enter.  The air makes the ice cream taste better.  Really!  Repeat the procedure until a ball is created.  The most expensive is not necessarily the best. (Haven't we all heard that before)  The shape of the scoop, not the cost, determines its efficiency.
