I was tickled to say the least when I found these definitions by famous Scientists. I can't wait to discuss this with my "logical" friends. I'm sure they will argue their point as they always do. This is one debate I will win! Why? Because, the very fact of them trying to disprove my beliefs in luck, is actually admitting that it exists. For example, an atheist says he doesn't believe in God. If you state you don't believe in "something", aren't you actually validating "its" existence. You believe in it enough to acknowledge you are not a believer. Do you follow what I'm saying? I'd love to hear your thoughts on the subject. Please leave a comment.
On with the show...
Austrian biologist Paul Kammerer in 1919 speculated that coincidence, luck and chance are the operation of an undiscovered law, the Law of Seriality (Series). He believed that coincidences (singular or in a series) are manifestations of a universal principle in nature that operates independently of physical cause. As fundamental as the laws of physics, although still unexplained. He also theorized that there is a causal principle active in the universe that tends toward unity. A mysterious force that acts on forms and functions to bring similar structures together in space and time. Even Einstein gave a favorable opinion of Kammerer's idea, saying it was "interesting, by no means absurd."
Kammerer and his work is not widely known, but the many accomplishments Carl Jung are. Jung proposed the Law of Synchronicity, a scientific method of accounting for meaningful coincidences. Meaningful coincidences, I like that. Examples given were ESP, horoscopes, prophetic dreams, de'ja vu, omens or a series of numbers. He explains synchronicity as a coincidence in time of two or more unrelated events having the same or similar meaning. A specific example given by Jung involved a woman relating to him a dream in which she received a golden scarab beetle. While listening to her, he heard a tapping noise at a closed window. He opened the window and was amazed to see a scarab beetle fly in.
I'm hoping someone has had an experience with synchronicity they would like to share.
