Avoid The Monday Morning Blues Using These Tactics

Monday morning blues will be on Tuesday this week for most, because of the labor day holiday..  A three-day weekend seems to make it just a little bit harder to get back in the swing of things your first day back at work.  I've listed some ideas that are sure to help you get going.

  1. Set your coffeemaker to start brewing  before you get up.  The smell of fresh brewed coffee ready and waiting gives you a reason to spring to your feet.
  2. Get your clothes out the night before.  There won't be any down time while trying to figure out what you will wear.
  3. Set out your breakfast food, whether it be toast, a bagel or muffin.  The seconds you save will add up to stress- free minutes by arriving at work prepared and on time.
  4. Because many of us have jobs in which the work we complete contributes to the larger goals of the company, we really never get finished.  During the weekend, making a project with your hands or work on a chore that you can look at when you're done like mowing the yard or gardening.
  5. When you head home on Friday, leave all your work supplies and information out on your desk.  On Monday morning, you won't have to drag out everything you need to start working, which can lead to procrastination.  And you won't be wasting any time trying to remember where exactly you left off.
  6. Purposely leave a project unfinished, then attach a note to it that will remind you on Monday how you planned to continue the task.

  1. Hello
Great post, thanks. One simple tip is to clean your desk on Friday, right before you end your day. It takes only five minutes but makes me always happy on Monday morning, when I go back to work.
    Best Regards
