Substitutes that Save in the kitchen

Instead of...                                 Use...

1 cup buttermilk                           for each ounce:  1 tbsp vegetable oil &
                                                      3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa

whipped cream                            whip evaporated milk (not skim) use icy-
                                                      cold bowl, beater & milk

nuts in baked goods                     crunchy cereal such as All-Bran Buds

superfine sugar                            regular sugar whirled in blender until fine

flavored coffee                             regular coffee with a few drops of
                                                     almond or vanilla extract or pinch of
                                                     cinnamon
