I love baked potatoes but I don't love how long it takes. I learned that if I boil them for about 10 minutes in salted water before popping in the oven saves a lot of time.
I recently read, cutting a thin slice from each end of the potato will speed up baking time too. This tip has not been tested. But I'm thinking this would be a great way to speed up the process when boiling them isn't possible.
Don't throw a leftover baked potato away. It can be re-baked if you dip it in water and bake in a 350 degree oven for about 20 minutes. Awesome!
Did you know a lil' bit of salt sprinkled into the frying pan will prevent spattering. (this works)
New frying pan? Vinegar brought to a boil in it will prevent foods from sticking.
You'll shed less tears if you will cut the rood end off of the onion last.
No tears at all when peeling onions if you place them in the deep freeze for four or five minutes first.
(Since I don't like onions, y'all will have to test these tips out for me and let us all know.)
Meat loaf will not stick if you place a slice of bacon on the bottom of the pan. (makes sense)
Here's one last tip that's perfect for the holiday season. A few teaspoons of sugar and cinnamon slowly burned on top of the stove will hide unpleasant cooking odors and make your family think you've been baking all day!
