Surviving Windows Updates

Toshiba Satellite L645D-S4036 LED TruBrite 14-Inch Laptop (Black)
My dad's computer crashed during the install of the latest updates from Windows and cost him $60 to get computer fixed.  Computer tech stated the problem as being "Windows Updates".  With no back up (I know rule #1) he lost everything.

My laptop has not been the same since.  It didn't crash but connecting to the Internet (wireless of course) is not happening.  I found an article in PCWorld Magazine about the updates so I'm hoping they have the solution to my problem.  They suggest to keep your computer settings to allow all updates automatically.  They also gave a link for downloading fixes.

Download latest flash player

Download newest version of Adobe Air

Update to Reader 9.3.3

Update to Acrobat 9.3.3
